Asken Yggdrasil = LP = (LP)
This is a very special edition of music from the past. The music on this record is from another era, consisting of remains excavated from tape archives. During a couple of years in the middle of the 1970s, I spent most of my spare time in an attic room furnished with a tape recorder and musical instruments. I learned how to play the drums and readily explored the tones of the electric organ. The recording techniques were really low-budget, but we learned how to make the most of it. The music was created under the influence of records such as Bo Hansson-Lord of the rings or Mike Oldfield-Hergest Ridge; Instrumental, melodic music with a touch of old folk-traditions and a Nordic atmosphere. Old Norse mythology became the theme for the tunes. We read the text of the old Icelandic Edda and were inspired to create a musical suite, where the predictions of the Voluspa gave us the motifs to form an instrumental tale. And now the tale is brought back to life again, to reach an audience! I got the tapes out of the archives after 35 years and it struck me that people could be able to appreciate the originality and enjoy the musical time-travelling. For those reasons I have widened and completed the sound, mainly with old analogue methods. Here and there I have added bits and pieces using instruments from that time. "Lars "Lach'n"
