Amaxa is a Swedish phenomenon. The music of this group is based almost exclusively on riffs, and it´s obvious that the seventies is a source of inspiration. Much of the influences are drawn from bands like Mountain, Black Sabbath, Atomic Rooster and Grand Funk Railroad. The listener will also find the traces of jazz intertwine with the rock elements within this organic music. Groove is a key focus and the drums are given a role as an additional instrument more than a mere timekeeper. Amaxa is far away from being just another retro band, there are some quirky twists that make them nothing but Amaxa. All members of the group do partake in the process of songwriting and anyone is free to come up with lyrics narrative subjects or poetry. The best moments are often when ideas are coming into shape in the rehearsal studio.
