Holland and the world, behold and salute to a new label just born. It bears the name Roadburn Records, and yes, it's the same guys who have treated us to a yearly edition of the Roadburn Festival for already thirteen times! The label is also dedicated to release mainly vinyl, and that is a nobel cause! Their first release is the musical dark expression of master brain Jason Kohnen. I had to dig deep, but Kohnen did play in two bands in the beginning of the nineties that have really had a grip on me : Korsakov and the almighty Bluuurgh. But White Darkness, the new band or project, has little to do with the death metal of old days. 'Nothing' are the projections of the nihilistic and dark pitch-black thoughts on an even so dark musical layer. It's like listening to the powerful Shostakovich, or the abyss like pits where Diamanda Galas is shrieking from or the music used in horror or fantasy computer games. Loads of classical instruments are used, like piano, cello and violins, all to create a horrifying atmosphere. The vocals, if there are any, are more an instrument than actually the uttering of words. This CD (or double vinyl version) is a must and totally food for fatalists under the spell of Cold Meat Industries releases or the mighty SunnO))).
