Just Me (CD)
Tommy Vitaly was born in Florence (Italy) in 1974. He started playing the guitar at the age of 15. Early influences from him were Iron Maiden and Metallica. A few years later Tommy started studying the styles of guitarists such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and his favourite mysician, Yngwie J. Malmsteen. Besides rock music Tommy studied also classical music. He plays piano since he was 7 years old and he also plays clarinet. These days Tommy works as a private guitar teacher and besides playing his original music, Tommy also plays in a Helloween tribute band called Mr. Eagle. So far Tommy has released 2 albums with his power metal band Seven Gates and now IceWarrior Records proudly presents his first solo album "Just Me". This album starts with the calm, piano title song "Just Me". The second song "The Raven Attack" really kicks off the album in furious MacAlpine/Malmsteen style of instrumental playing. "Fly High, Touch The Sky" is clearly influenced by Helloween and features the mighty vocals of Thomas Vikström. Next is "Air", a theme by J.S. Bach. "Storm of Fire" is another instrumental neoclassical song in the style of Grapow/Malmsteen. "Passion" and "Finally Free" are two emotional instrumental songs, while "Ready To Die" is a melodic metal song, the second with vocals from Thomas. "The Fury" is Impellitteri influenced, another influence from Tommy. "Eternal" is the second piano piece, and the album ends with an orchestral version of "Just Me". Besides the vocals of Thomas Vikström, there are also guest appearances from keyboardists Vitalij Kuprij and Mistheria, and guitarist David Shankle. "Just Me" is produced by Tommy himself and mixed and mastered by Frank Andiver (Labyrinth, Vision Divine, ...) . "Just Me" is a very good neoclassical (power) metal album, with several interesting instrumental compositions and two very good songs with vocals.
