When James Jackson Toth aka Wooden Wand was invited to record a split 7" with his friend Duquette Johnston (ex-Verbena) and his band The Gum Creek Killers, his first impulse was to fish out an unreleased track from his legendary archives. But Duquette suggested recording with the same band in Birmingham. Toth says to this day that it was one of the most relaxing studio sessions he's ever had and immediately wanted to make a full record. Duquette nailed Toth on that plan, so he invited him back to record the new Wooden Wand album with the Gum Creek Killers, with Duquette and Les Nuby (Vulture Whale, ex-Verbana) as producers. Toth also pulled in his old friend Brian Lowery and Jody Nelson from Through The Sparks - the Briarwood Virgins were born
