The Dark Side Of The Moog Vol. 1 - 4 = 5 CD = (CD)
The long out-of-print and worldwide sought-after series The year was 1994, and Klaus Schulze could already look back on a long and successful career. At this time his "digital phase", the fascination for the then still new sample technology had reached its zenith with albums like "Beyond Recall", his concerts in the Royal Festival Hall, in the Cologne Cathedral or even with his opera "Totentag"
Peter Kuhlman a. k.a Pete Namlook, on the other hand, was just starting his career. His label Fax, founded in 1992, was a playground and playground for his own visions, but also for exciting encounters and collaborations, among others with Robert Görl (DAF), Geir Jenssen (Biosphere), Bill Laswell, Richie Hawtin, Lorenzo Montanà, Gabriel Le Mar, Dr. Atmo or David Moufang
The influence of Pete Namlook on the entire oeuvre of Klaus Schulze in the mid-90s cannot be underestimated, because he loved precisely those elements that were less present in his own music. Thus, Namlook encouraged Schulze to return to the analog charm of his earlier albums, supported him in the midification of his analog instruments, which ultimately led to the epochal Schulze album "Are You Sequenced?" released in 1996
Pete Namlook's understanding of Klaus Schulze's music, as well as his own understanding of music, made working for Klaus Schulze exciting. For Pete Namlook Schulze's curiosity and eye-to-eye work was one of the driving forces: More or less unplanned, "The Dark Side Of The Moog" grew into a stately, eleven-part series between 1994 and 2008, which was brought to an end solely by the far too early, tragic death of Pete Namlook on November 8, 2012. Even in retrospect, it is immensely exciting to experience the rapprochement, the exchange, the growing together - but also the fertilizing frictions.
