Inspired by Elvis Presley and the pioneers of American rock `n' roll he managed to take their energy and sense of rebellion and create something distinctively French. He was an immediate success and has remained so to this day. This concert from Montreux in 1988 captures his electric live show in a far more intimate venue than the vast arenas he usually performs in.
