It was a revitalised and resurgent version of this stalwart San Francisco-based NRPS that signed to Relix in the early 80s. Still lead by founder John Dawson, this was a new New Riders in almost every other way. For fans, the Relix years are golden as well as purple, and this wonderful journey through their rebirth is a rockin' reelin reminder of a truly great, fun band. The live set that begins Disc One starts with their best known track, Panama Red, and the whole set comes from a couple of 1975 gigs in New York and California. It's a document of the band in transition. The studio material, beginning with the classic Keep On Keepin' On, from the 1989 album of the same name, is a reminder that they were truly back in shape. Measured and assured, the material from this period illustrates a grown-up version of the band's trademark country-rock - recalling the later years of lauded contemporaries Creedence. Enjoyable from start to finish, this is a reminder that these Riders remained firmly in the saddle
