One of the most immediately striking albums I've ever listened to. Gabriel sets the mood and sets it fast with the driving beat and dark atmospherics of Intruder, the first of many songs in the album's motif of not-quite-right narrators (to put it gently). The first side of the album is more or less perfect, rarely failing to keep me enthralled even after dozens of listens. Family Snapshot is one of the more creative and chilling lyrical themes I have heard in a song, pulled off perfectly with jarring changes in instrumentation. Side B flags slightly, but on any other Gabriel album, these tracks would be solid 5-stars- it's simply impossible to keep up the pace that the first six songs set.
