There is a great deal of catharsis in rock and metal. Set For Departure, the third release from Once-ler, is an album of many twists and turns. Split into four segments, the first of which includes titles such as: 'In Death With Love' and 'Life on Loan', the Dayton ensemble have gone for broke: incorporating angst-driven situations, into avant-metal ferocity, and the soft, protracted tension of progressive rock, while even finding time for gypsy-folk interludes. Proof, if needed, that cathartic expression can be innovative.
