Stigma (CD)
In 2012, the series "Jerzy Milian Tapes" opened with a collection of short, entertaining tracks performed by this legendary jazzman in cooperation with Berlin-based orchestra of Günter Gollasch. Eight years (and volumes) later, we come back to these sessions to recall yet another portion of fiery big-band frenzy of the 1970s.
The "Cutting" includes sixteen diverse tracks: from strong beat (incl. "Lauf zuf Kasse", a new version of "Bufon Luciano"), through fervently swinging "Metro de Londres" to Philadelphia Sound in "Kung Tanz". Add to that some poignant ballads ("Silvias Traume") and more bold experiments with sound ("Farben"). Edgy themes of the trumpet section, funk guitars, even Hammond organs and an analogue synthesizer all merge into an extraordinary wide array of colors which Milian uses to paint his sound miniatures.
