"If it wasn't for the Americans, we wouldn't have rock'n'roll," observes singer Dan McCafferty, three and a half decades after the release of Rampant, the aptly-titled collection of energetic rock anthems that was Nazareth's fifth long player. "I always think, credit where it's due," he adds, grinning at the memory of those far-off years spent in the belly of the beast, America - Nazareth's spiritual homeland. It's easy to admire Rampant's casually expert take on the vintage Americana which influenced Nazareth. Songs such as Silver Dollar Forger and Glad When You're Gone contain copious tributes to the USA, which had been Nazareth's most lucrative market since the release of the This Flight Tonight single the previous year.
