Texas International Pop Festival = 2 LP = (LP)
Following the release of Led Zeppelin's first album in January 1969, the band toured frantically in the UK, Europe and North America - where their debut had reached a respectable No. 10 position on the Billboard Chart. The band's third US tour in the summer of '69, between 5th July and 31st August, was exclusively made up of Festival Appearances, which included appearances at Newport, Atlanta and Seattle among others, but generally considered to be their finest performance of the tour came on the band's last show of the tour at the Texas International Pop Festival, which took place at the Dallas International Motor Speedway, in Lewisville, TX, on 31st August. Performing mid-way through the second day of the festival, Led Zeppelin blew most of the competition off stage, including that day's headline act Santana, performing just two weeks after their breakthrough set at Woodstock.
Zeppelin performed a sterling set of cuts from their debut and a choice selection of blues covers, completing a set that ran just over an hour to the delight of the Texan audience who were clearly in awe at the end of proceedings. Previously unreleased, this quite stunning show is available in full sure to prove a must-have item for the millions of Led Zep fans still flying a very proud flag for this extraordinary collective!
