Perfect in its imperfections, complete in its incompleteness, Starless and Bible Black is the most disorienting and unbalanced album that King Crimson ever made. It took me a long time to change from seeing this as a lackluster misstep in between two monumental albums to unlocking its mysteries. The way I hear the album now it all seems correct; an unorthodox juggling act of power and delicacy, falling apart and rejoining in endlessly fascinating configurations.
