Much rawer than their later releases, and channels Dissection in a big way. Not so much that it feels like a rip-off, but the melodic guitarwork and dynamic song structures are working in that same style of extreme metal. The production is very raw and noisy, traditionally black metal. It's got a lot of great ideas, and the songs 'On Horns Impaled', 'Angelrape' and 'Walls of Life Ruptured' stood out to me because of the very strong riffs and guitar melodies. They branch out and deepened their sound on later releases though, but this was a really strong start. Every song hear fucking kills, and it was the kick up the arse black metal needed. It really, really grows on you. A careful, attentive listen is essential to picking out the details and melancholy melodies woven into this very gritty black metal release.
