Based in Toronto, Ontario and founded in 2004, Cancer Bats have created a sound that pays homage to their hardcore punk roots while exploring a more sophisticated, heavy metal composing style. They have admitted influences as wide ranging as the indie rock band the Fleet Foxes. Dead Set On Living is their fourth full-length record; the band have also released several EPs and splits along with their studio albums. Founded in 2004 by vocalist Liam Cormier and guitarist Scott Middleton, Cancer Bats have maintained a static lineup since 2007. Currently their star is very much in ascent in the Canadian heavy music scene.
