Where to start? "Marriage of Heaven and Hell" would be in my top 10 or so of desert island albums. I first heard it when I was a 16 year old black metal kid with a growing interest in religion, philosophy and the occult. Obviously much of the album's impact was due to the text around which the album was built but I would credit Ulver for making me sit and put my mind around what Blake was trying to say. After a decade I still go through Blake's texts once a year and while doing so I still hear Garm's soft tone in my ears: Blake's prose and Ulver's music have become inseparable. The album was extremely important for making me realize that while some black metal acts were educated in spiritual issues, there was nothing particularly spiritual or satanic about a certain genre of music per se.
