Auto Reconnaissance = 2 LP + CD = (LP)
Over the past 15 years, two camps have apparently formed in the world of contemporary progressive rock. One camp served the expected, traditional lines of the genre, and the bands in the other camp spent their time denying that they were even a "prog" band. And in between there is The Tangent "Auto Reconnaissance" offers 70 minutes that leave nothing to be desired: stomping prog rock, some of the band's most sublime jazz, humour, narrations, a modern R&B love song (!), straightforward pop music, funk/soul and a 28-minute epic about England, the band's home country, loaded with orchestration, impressive instrumentals, melodies and a great tale with Andy Tillison's signature
