This compilation (1964-1975) begins with the band's first groundbreaking hit, a cover of the British pre-Beatles rocker Johnny Kidd's number 1 hit "Shakin' All Over" from 1960. In 1970, Guess Who released their worldwide hit single "American Woman" (later covered by Lenny Kravitz) by chance at the same time as they received an invitation to perform at the White House. Pat Nixon asked them not to play the current hit single (an anti-Vietnam war protest song) for the President. One of their latest hits "Clap For The Wolfman" is a homage to the American DJ Wolfman Jack, who can also be heard on the recording. Randy Bachman, the lead guitarist and front man of Burton Cummings, was one of the best songwriting partners at that time.
