German 70's prog may conjure up images of krautrock futurists such as Can and Amon Düül II, but there was also a more straightforward, earthy aspect to the genre. Anglo-German band Epitaph had a style solidly based in the guitar hero blues-rock end of the prog spectrum, exemplified by the less doom-laden parts of Black Sabbath's debut album.
