The Very Best Of (CD)
Bob "The Bear" Hite, the 'slightly'" overweight singer of US combo CANNED HEAT, lived to be only 36. He died in April 1981 after suffering a heart attack. Guitarist Al "Blind Owl" Wilson had already put down his plectrum for good in September 1970 (the same month as Jimi Hendrix, incidentally). Highly depressed due to an eye condition, he committed suicide at just 27 years of age. On the other hand, the blues and boogie rock, which the two of them recorded with various colleagues and which they presented live on many stages of this planet (e.g. in Monterey in 1967 and in Woodstock in 1969), is absolutely immortal. Especially thanks to the three huge hits "On The Road Again", "Going Up The Country" and "Let's Work Together", which became playlist and commercial favorites.
