Words In Ruin is a first class work that, while not particularly barrier-breaking, fuses tasteful, high-quality elements of prog, melodic death, and power metal in an eminently repeatable package. This is easily one of my highlights of 2016, and I've not been so taken with an album outside of my core power metal or neo-progressive rock tastes in a very, very long time. Recommended for fans of clean, catchy Scar Symmetry songs, the more aggressive side of heavier prog acts like Threshold or Adagio, or an odd combination of Optic, Gladenfold, and later Pagan's Mind.
