Akercocke's first album, Rape of the Bastard Nazarene, is a pretty good death/black metal hybrid. Normally I don't care for bands that claim to be such, as few succeed in marrying those two styles effectively. But Akercocke do it pretty well. The sound isn't that great though, but the quality of the songs does come through the muddy production most of the time. "Hell" and "Sephiroth Rising" being two worthy of mention. It's simple, if you like later day Akercocke then this is a must.
