Ask anyone who know their metal history: the At the Gates school of aggressive and melodic metal is a tricky one to master; wannabes and pretenders are sorted out quick and dirty. Feebly snapping at the heels of their betters never did anyone much good, but occasionally along comes a band like Arise, who manage to inject a new surge of blood into the old corpse and basically have the raw talent to arise (sic!) above the crowd, do their own thing against the odds.
