Genesis (CD)
First time on CD is the second album from South Africa legends McCully Workshop. Recorded in 1971, Genesis is a loose take on the Bible. Consisting of long tracks, the album offers up a proto-prog feel. No keyboards to speak of but lots of flute, horns, and distorted guitar. The vocal harmonies are of the period. Think of a mash up of Sgt. Pepper era Beatles, Chicago Transit Authority, and Hendrix. Give it an underground British sheen and you've got this one nailed down. Perhaps a bit dated but of its time and quite charming at that.
