Mathcore: It takes a bit more than your regular 300 riff a minute off-kilter chaos to convince me that a band is worth anymore than a passing glance nowadays. Blame Botch and Coalesce (who were doing this shit years ago) and blame in particular, The Dillinger Escape Plan. Ever since they dropped the colossal 'Calculating Infinity' on the Mathcore scene, for any emerging act who thought they might be able to match it with the best, the measuring stick just got a whole lot bigger. Few recent bands have been able to come up with the goods - Psyopus, Candiria and Paria immediately come to mind. From this point onwards, Florida's 'Into The Moat' should also be seriously considered.
