Even long-in-the-tooth drummer Carmine Appice, who earned his keep in the late sixties with Vanilla Fudge and Cactus, caught the eighties heavy-on-image hair band itch. Over the top and beyond cheesy, Appice was so taken by the big neon lit Sunset Strip scene that upon forming King Kobra the aging drummer demanded a blonde guitarist.
