Kix (CD)
While not as consistently distortion-heavy in style as the band will later display, this debut does showcase the sass that would become a trademark for the East Coast party rockers. Led by vocalist Steve Whiteman and bassist/main songwriter Donnie Purnell, the boys begin with "Atomic Bombs," which has a steady pace and good groove. Heaviness seeps from "The Kid," flashing forward to a style they would employ fulltime in a few years. A great chorus marks "Poison," while the fast party-rock atmosphere of "Kix Are For Kids" bumps and rolls. Closing the disc out is the sassy and hilarious "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah," which would long be a concert staple for the band.
