Edgar Broughton Band (CD)
The Edgar Broughton Band, formed in 1968 in Warwick, England, was one of those unique bands of the late '60s/early '70s that developed their own fan base and a psychedelic blues-rock sound with occult tendencies Their self-titled third album from 1971 is an eclectic album that changes tempo from song to song and is also known as "The Meat Album", featuring guest appearances by Roy Harper and Mike Oldfield. They were the band of the people, the working man's rock and roll, making their politics clear in their lyrics. Their sound, heavily influenced by blues-rock, was hard-hitting and driven by Edgar Broughton's gritty Vocal style that resembled that of Captain Beefheart and Howlin' Wolf.
