There was a time - from roughly 1975-1985 - when being The Boss (punctuation is mine) seemed to be just about the best job in the whole world, based on the promo clip for "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)," anyway. Three or four hours on stage every night for an event that was equal parts concert, sermon, tribal therapy session, and aerobic workout - tires slashed, almost crashed - starry-eyed women climbing up one another's backs to get on stage for a flying lip lock, and one of the greatest live bands to ever tread the boards watching your backside and, well, what else is there, really, except for a really good record collection?
