Farewell To The Real Magnificent Seven = Papersleeve, Japanese = (CD)
Oops... This album is quite good - but it might be so much better! It contains a whole lot of great little songs, but also a couple of useless covers that make the result feel slightly bland now and then. I know that Amen Corner was one of the first to cover "Proud Mary", but this version really doesn't equal the Creedence Clearwater Revival original - or the Tina Turner version either. "The Weight" by The Band is another cover that I would have left off this album. The version of "Get Back" (released by The Beatles about half a year earlier), instead, is more interesting, while the version is really different from the original. I don't mean that Amen Corner's recording is better, but it is different and that is OK, right? And then there is "Hello Susie", which naturally was a Move song... wait! It seems that the Move recording was released a few months later. So in a way this is the original. Anyway, the song sounds quite nice.
