The 1968 Tapes = LP = (LP)
Although the music of Jazz Sabbath was not released until recently, it has found its way to millions of people for over 50 years. Through a vicious cycle of personal tragedy and plagiarism, the songs that were to change the jazz world became a much darker sound. Now a third recording from the sixties has resurfaced, perhaps their most important.
in 1968, Jazz Sabbath were an instant hit on the British jazz scene. It wasn't long before they were offered a record deal. They spent weeks in the studio recording the tracks that went down best at their gigs until they captured their live energy on tape. Unfortunately, the label manager said the album was far too experimental and had no hit potential. They reluctantly gave in to the instruction to play some of their "simpler" tracks instead.
