In the days before Poison dropped on the scene with their New York Dolls (for whom Blackie Lawless briefly played) for dummies, 'pussy magnet' sound that had every group on the sunset strip dumping their post-apocalyptic, zombie hooker getups for lace and pastels, W.A.S.P. were the band they all emulated. Shout at the Devil? Totally based on what W.A.S.P. were doing (just as Theatre of Pain hit the streets with Poison's sound before that band even had a chance to release their debut).
