Recorded in 1978, Accept's debut is a fascinating specimen of late-70s metal, retaining many of the fractious pieces of the period, the rules of the game not yet written in stone. While the NWOBHM boiled and bubbled at singles-level obscurity and Priest, Bon, and Lem pushed the envelope, the possibilities seemed endless. The core of the band having already survived a handful of years together, the album glows with a passion and determination of five pioneering optimists storming uncharted territory against a sea of "sensible" advice from peers and family as they travel throughout Europe, freezing and playing small venues.
