They were the "Rolling Stones of the Eastern Bloc" - in the 70s and 80s. Their now available - only - German language album with many hits is a sensation and a jewel at the same time. The band first appeared in 1973 in the run-up to the X. World Festival in the GDR (the GDR "Supergroup" Panta Rhei, with Herbert Dreilich and Veronika Fischer, among others, served as opening act). Before that, Omega had already been successful at the hip festivals in Tokyo and Montreux. But how it was possible in 1973 to get the band into the now legendary and sought-after radio studios in East Berlin's Nalepastraße between concerts, and to have their hits recorded there with German lyrics (mostly poems by Kurt Demmler and Bernd Maywald).
