In preparation for the 2021 'Music Is Our Friend' tour of the US, this 2CD history of King Crimson contains many recordings and tracks, 22 of 29 of which appear on CD for the first time, including live material from the current line-up Packaged in a fold-out book-style digipack with 28-page booklet, this is the eighth release in the tour box set series and comes with introductory liner notes by Robert Fripp and sleeve notes by Sid Smith As always, it's an opportunity to compile material - much of it unreleased on CD - to showcase the music of King Crimson in a somewhat unexpected way, hopefully shedding new light on the band and their music. For this year's compilation, and perhaps fittingly for a band that has been fronting three drummers since 2014, Disc 1 features tracks that showcase KC's rich history of drummers and percussionists, while Sid Smith's liner notes also focus on the drummers. Disc 2 takes a slightly more song-based detour through all eras of KC's history and, like the concerts since 2014, ends with Starless. Both discs contain a lot of historical material and a lot of live material from the current band, and both also include an exclusive track / edit from the upcoming, highly anticipated Robert Fripp "Exposures" multi-disc boxset. Originally intended as a one-off tour booklet equivalent for the 2014 tour, these 2Disc sets have since become a popular and much-loved collected series that packs a punch.
