Have a slight bent corner, otherwise as new ! Nocturnal, a band of guys from Germany with hilariously over the top monikers like Mayhem, Vomitor, Hellbastard, and Avenger who apparently get their rocks off playing old school thrash. And more power to them! ?Arrival of the Carnivore? succeeds in recapturing some the feeling that made that era so much fun; it?s loose, playful, energetic and essentially brainless? but that?s a good thing. Mayhem has a voice which isn?t quite Mille (Kreator) and not exactly Schmier (Destruction) but somewhere in between. The guitar is appropriately strangled and mangled, bass almost non existent (but occasionally raises it's voice), and the drums rattle away like a tomb in an earthquake, the whole thing loosely held together by the rather average mix.
