The notable sound and style of the album is that is a heavily groove-oriented album though it doesn't fall under as being groove metal, but from the sludge metal influences which makes the album rather heavy. Overall this album is haunting and heavy, its sonically sludge soaked making the music punishing and with Broadrick's vocals and lyrical themes being an extra beating, though the occasional beauty shines through this album. Besides nu metal, Godflesh and mostly this album really utilizes hip hop influences with metal.
