For sheer uncompromising musicianship and their historical impact, few bands have reached such a significant and impressive reputation as one of Sweden's most prominent heavy metal band Silver Mountain. Their veritable musical dexterity and adventurous, ground-breaking songwriting have long earned them praise from rock fans all over the world. Silver Mountain quickly became the foremost pioneers of the explosive Swedish metal scene that was rapidly spreading around the globe in the early 1980s. Following the phenomenal fan acceptance and international acclaim of Shakin' Brains, Silver Mountain faced the sophomore challenge: to come up with a second album to expand the horizon of their intricate musical journey. The outcome was the astounding Universe. Staying true to Jonas' determination to evolve and create a new canvas of sound, while continuing to pay homage to the great Swedish metal tradition, he first overhauled the Silver Mountain lineup. He recruited Christer Mentzer as a new singer whose astonishing vocal range was much better suited to the "new" Silver Mountain. He also replaced the Johansson brothers with Mårten Hedener on drums, and session man Erik Björn Nielsen on keyboards to join him and bassist Per Stadin. The difference was immediately striking!
