No one album could properly encapsulate everything that's wonderful about jazz, but this one comes very close indeed. Sometimes fast (Better Get Hit in Yo' Soul), sometimes slow (I X Love), sometimes sparse (Mood Indigo), sometimes busy (II B.S.), sometimes beautiful (Theme for Lester Young), sometimes chaotic (Hora Decubitus), and sometimes everything all at once (Freedom)--and it's very hard to believe that last one wasn't included on the original LP.
