I had never actually considered buying any of their studio albums before this. The singles, however entertaining, never seemed special, like they lacked something. In other words I have always felt that U2 produce good pop music, yeah ok, better than most, but still mainstream pop music. Thats not to take anything away from them, but it is perhaps why I cannot get into U2 as much as I would like to.
