"Alive or Just Breathing," the band's debut on RoadRunner Records, is a study in classic heavy metal riffage not-so-carefully laced with contemporary double-bass thrashcore. On songs like "Self Revolution" and "Life to Lifeless" you can hear the 80's metal inspiration hiding behind the grinding guitar and piledriving drums. The song "Barely Breathing" reads almost like a blueprint of late 80s metal; loose, dreamy guitars building to crashing cymbals, heavy, wavey riffs escalating to breakneck speeds.
