Collection Of Soul = Slipcase = (CD)
After the great "On The Seventh Day God Created... Master", Master returned in 1993 with a new work entitled "Collection Of Souls". It's hard to find a band that started as a death / thrash band in a period of thrash metal and become thrash in a period of death metal! Well, Master have done it with this album.
The tracks here, even if they are less death metal than on "On The Seventh Day God Created... Master", are really entertaining. The first thing you notice is the production: a bit clearer and thrashier. The guitars are no longer tuned so low and the vocals are less growly. The opener "Constant Reminders" is still old-school death/thrash; a song that would have fit in well with the master's earlier works. Most of the following songs are more thrashy and even have a slightly more punky approach that goes straight ahead. Another cool song is the beautiful Thin Lizzy cover of "Jailbreak", Master goes in the direction of hard rock. The super fast "Silver Spoon" is once again a good piece of brutal death / thrash and a perfect track to end this album. "Collection of souls" is a work that is certainly more thrash metal than death metal, but with many pleasant moments.
