Still Life = 3 CD / DVD, Digipack = (CD)
"Still Life", Van Der Graaf Generator's sixth album, celebrated its 45th birthday in 2021. Fittingly, the British progressive rock band released a special reissue in 2021: a 3-disc edition of the classic album with two CDs and a DVD-Audio, remastered from the original first-generation master tapes, with a stunning new stereo mix and a 5.1 surround sound mix by Stephen W Tayler, as well as additional live bonus tracks from 1975 and 1976 and a John Peel BBC session from 1976.
"Still Life" was originally released on April 15, 1976, and is their sixth studio album and second after "Godbluff" following their 1975 reunion.
After touring the previous album, the band, which at the time consisted of Peter Hammill (vocals, guitar, piano), David Jackson (tenor and soprano saxophones, flute), Hugh Banton (Hammond organ, bass, Mellotron, piano) and Guy Evans (drums, percussion), went back into the studio, at Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire. There they finished the two songs "Pilgrims" and "La Rossa", which were still from the "Godbluff" session, and wrote the three remaining tracks "Still Life", "My Room (Waiting For Wonderland)" and "Childlike Faith In Childhood's End".
