Electric Circus (CD)
For more than five decades, guitarist Toto Blanke, who died in 2013, was one of the leading representatives of cross-border jazz sounds. The studied architect and classically trained string virtuoso worked with renowned musicians such as Gunter Hampel and Otto Wolters as early as the 1960s, before he achieved international fame with the style-defining jazz rock formation Association P. C. (of Dutch drummer Pierre Courbois) In addition, in the further course of his career he played with such greats as Jeremy Steig, Joachim & Rolf Kühn, Randy Brecker, Jan Akkerman, Philip Catherine, Charlie Mariano, Stu Goldberg and Trilok Gurtu With the re-release of the album "Electric Circus" a milestone of European fusion jazz is finally officially available again. Originally released in 1976 on Vertigo and - besides Toto Blanke, who can be heard on guitar, synthesizer, sequencer, moog bass and banjo - in the top-class line-up Jasper Van't Hof, Ulli A. Reutzel (both keyboards), Dave King (bass), as well as Edward Vesala (drums) recorded on this masterpiece, elements of contemporary jazz, progressive/craut-rock and electronics merge into an experimental whole, characterized by inspired solo excursions
