Boulders = Japanese, SHMCD = (CD)
Recorded at least partially while Roy Wood was still a member of psychedelic pop band the Move but unreleased until late 1973 after his rise to fame with Electric Light Orchestra and the release of Wizzard Brew, Boulders is the most gentle and earthy of his catalog. That isn't to say that the sound is raw or stripped-down; each sound on the record is neatly tucked in its proper sonic space, creating a crisp and even mix in which all instruments are clearly audible, as is to be expected from an artist who has always been more of a producer, arranger, and musician than a songwriter.
