The beauty of this album lies in the performances Coltrane coaxed out of Joe Henderosn and Pharoah Sanders. Henderson really has been never known for coming out of his bop-oriented shell, and yet her, he plays a wide-open, freer and more relaxed sound. Sanders, on the other hand, with John Coltrane developed the screeching, sometimes off-putting sounds associated with avant-garde jazz at the time. None of that can be found here! only the technical excellence combined with soaring spirituality.
