Worth the purchase alone for the track "Dude Ranch Nurse", I love the slower pacing and the contrast between the pretty guitar riff and Kim's voice, it's truly gorgeous. She's actually on more songs than usual which is really cool because she has such an effortless sound to her vocals. Onto the rest of the album, well it still sounds like Sonic Youth, it's perhaps a bit more erm user friendly then their earlier albums but it's not drastic, just more pop oriented I guess. With the sheer amount of albums that the group has churned out it's impressive that each album does have a slightly different sound to it, yet each and every one are obviously them. Hmmm, it's always so hard to rate Sonic Youth albums for me...I guess if you are looking to start with them, it's an okay place (not their best work though), and fans should be pleased with this. It's very Sonic Youthy...which for me was a great thing.
