There's something so fresh and likable about Tom Petty. I'm one who hasn't had much of an upbringing on his music (besides some radio repeats of "Free Fallin'", of course), but I'm slowly getting into his music with each passing month as of his summer. In a world where all of my iconic, musical admirees have come from the UK and Europe, I've really developed an appreciation for the American songwriter between Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan in 2008, Jandek in 2009 (though his outsider sound might not constitute him as a proper citing), and now Tom Petty in 2010.
