It was as early as in '73 that HARMONIA started playing gigs before finally releasing their first album with the plain title Musik von Harmonia. The album not only met but largely exceeded the high expectations of the listeners. Musik von Harmonia is a beautiful and elegant, a minimalist and lively album that is almost completely played "by hand", apart from the fact that they used an automatic drum machine. Musik von Harmonia is experimental pop music in the very literal sense of the words. When regarding the harmonious and rhythmic structures of the pieces (pop) and the exquisite sounds and noises as well as their arrangements (experimental), there can be no doubt about that. In '74, speaking of experiments and avant-garde was by the way nothing to feel ashamed of yet. So lets just take these terms, which were to be commonly despised in the aftermath of the post-modern revolution, very literally and associate them with Musik von Harmonia: Thirty years after it was first released we find that this album laid grounds for ideas that were to gain wide-spread recognition only years later.
